REVIEW: Peripera Cushion Blusher #4 Shy Pink

Monday, December 1, 2014

In amidst all the chaos of dividing my time properly in between school, blogging, art & designing, photographing, breathing and occasionally a slip in of online shopping, I could finally squeeze in some time to write a review on the Peripera Cushion Blusher #4 Shy Pink.

The cushion blusher is sold in 5 different colors and comes in an unusual packaging that is similar to lip-glosses in tube. The design of the tube is divided in three elements. The upper part is colored with dark brown, the middle with a light beige color and a face is drawn on it. A cute detail that caught my eyes was the color of the cheeks. This is supposedly the color that will look on a real person's face. The bottom part is the opening of the cushion blusher and adheres an universal standard orange color.

Both swatches of Peripera Cushion Blusher #4 Shy Pink are applied on a piece of paper. On the left I squeezed out a lot of the product to show what the texture looks like. The right side showcases how the blush will look like after you try to "move" the product around with your fingers.

❝ REVIEW: Peripera Cushion Blusher #4 Shy Pink

✧ Color
#PK04 is a playful salmon colored blush that infuses shades of orange and pink while keeping the balance of those two colors. It is a youthful shade that delivers a natural looking flush and will flatter both cool and warm skin tones.
✧ Texture
People who are new to the product will probably be surprised at the texture. I know I was. The Peripera Cushion Blusher is quite sticky when you apply it directly on the cheek. Due to the stickiness it gives you the space to swirl and move around the blush with your finger, thus making the product blend-able. However, once the product is set it turns into a chalky texture and clings onto the skin.
My tip is to squeeze some of the product before application, "stamp" the blush on your cheeks directly and then use your fingers to dab. When blended in, you can decide whether you want to keep it sheer or more prominent. If the latter is your choice, you can reapply the product and layer it on top of the previous set of blush whilst retaining the natural look.
Formula
It's a gel/fluid-like blush that dries out fast once it is set on the skin (so after you blend all that's left of the product) and won't budge afterward. The blush is also lightweight and you won't even notice that you just applied something sticky on your face. In fact, it feels kind of smooth on my skin.
Scent
It's free from any scent.
✧ Lasting power
This has got to be one of the most long lasting blushes I've ever came across. I tested it out for several days and it turns out that this blush was still intact after 8 hours of wearing!
Packaging
The blush has an unusual design that resembles a lipgloss in a tube and has a cute face drawn onto it with the color of the blush shown on the cheeks. The packaging is travel friendly and it's also easy to squeeze out the product. The downside of this packaging is that you can't see how much is left of the product and it's not really hygienic because of the cushion.
Price
I think I paid around $10 for it, but I can't be sure anymore. beautynetkorea on eBay is selling it for $8.29 right now, so this is definitely a steal if you're interested in grabbing one of these babies! :)
Final verdict: 4.5/5
Peripera Cushion Blusher #4 Shy Pink was a real surprise to me! I didn't expect much since I was only excited to test the cushion applicator out. But this product is without a doubt one of my favorite blushers now. I even bought another one in shade #3 Cheerful Orange while I was in Korea this summer.

The downside of this product is that you cannot directly measure or see how much is left of the product and it's not really hygienic since it is a cushion applicator. Nevertheless, they provide you with a cap to cover the applicator and to prevent any dust or tiny particles to cling onto the cushion.

Another thing that may discourage people from using it further or to experiment with is the sticky, but chalky texture of the product. It's quite time consuming at first since it's so different than a powder blush and once the product is set on the skin, it will dry fast--thus making it is not possible to erase any mistakes.
However, to me, these are just minor things that I can live with. Once you experiment more you'll definitely get a hang of how to use it. Therefore I deducted only -0.5 points and gave it a total 4.5 out of 5 points. If you can look beyond these minor flaws like I did,  I would say go grab it because they last over 8 hours, they give your cheeks a natural flush, they're build-able, they're pigmented and they're also travel friendly!
PROS

Recommend? Yes/No?
A big yes. The lightweight, yet pigmented cushion blusher will leave your cheeks with a natural color and is wearable up to 8 hours. The packaging of this cushion blusher will also come in handy for travel since it comes in a form of a tube.
PS: Have you joined my Merry Christmas Giveaway yet? The beauty goodies were all bought during my trip in Korea, so you can be rest assured that they're authentic! :)
