REVIEW: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

Monday, February 10, 2014

Finally I'm back with a review post dedicated to Etude House Wonder Pore Fresher. Some readers might think: But you never posted a picture of the haul that contained this product? Surprise surprise! You surely do have sharp eyes! Of course I had the intention to post it, but the reason why I backed out last minute was because I wasn't entirely satisfied with the pictures I made. But that reason shouldn't have an effect on this post, right? ;)

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner is a multifunctional product that claims not only to be a toner, but it can also be used as a mist. The product comes in a transparent bright baby blue bottle and I myself purchased the 250 ml version on eBay. The packaging really highlights the "Fresh" in "Freshner" because of the dazzling colors and text. In a way it kind of reminds me of a drinking bottle that is specially made for a kid.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner promises Se7en (lol, sorry I just had to) miraculous benefits in one product.
* Deep cleanse pores
* Maintain pH 4.5 +/- 1
* Control a large amount of the sebum
* Minimize appearance of pores
* Refine the skin tones
* Keep the elasticity of pores
* Moisturize inside and outside of the skin
6-Free: No parabens, mineral oil, fragrances, artificial pigment, talc, animal ingredients.

The product description sounds like a gift sent from above doesn't it? But whether it truly is.. we'll read more of that soon.

The first time I ever tested out Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner was when I received a sample accompanied by a product I bought. Initially I never had any thoughts to test it out until one night when my Garnier toner left the world. So the most sensible approach at that moment was to use the sample, in hopes that it would perform as well as it was described on the package.

Well, I can tell you one thing straight about this product. It literally blew me away. Is that a good thing or is that a bad thing, you ask? Trust me on this one, it's definitely a good thing.
Here are some other closeups:

❝ REVIEW: Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner

✧ Texture
What more can I say about this? It's lightweight and watery!
✧ Formula
Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner promises 7 phenomenal benefits in one product. Since I used the product without any prevision beforehand, I was really surprised at how fresh and "clean" my skin felt after using Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. None of the toner I used before managed to provide me the same sensation as this one from Etude House. Any residual impurities that clings onto my skin after cleansing is wiped off on the cotton pads. My skin is happy!
Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner also manages to balance the skin's pH and moisturizes my skin. It's rare, but my skin feels hydrated after using it and I consider this as a huge plus point. It doesn't break me out and it also slightly even out my skin tone as it promises, but don't expect dramatic results because you won't find them.
Also, head ups for people with sensitive skin out there, I must warn that this product might sting and leave your skin with red patches at night. I have encountered this about 5 times in the period of 3 months but luckily this vanishes within the next day.
While using the product, here are some things that I could not test/no visible results:

* My pores are not huge to begin with, so in that aspect I can't really inform you guys much about it.
* I have a normal skin type, so I'm not sure how well this would work on oily skin type.
* There was no difference of the "elasticity" of my pores after using it, so I'm not sure if this works?
✧ Scent
There's a weird scent involved in this product, I can't explain what it smells like though. But after using it everyday from daytime and nighttime I got used to the fragrant and it doesn't bother me anymore.
✧ Packaging
It's a cute jumbo transparent bottle that has a bright baby blue color as primary color. The text and illustration works really well with the image of the product. "Fresh" and "Clean" are the keywords here.
✧ Price
I paid around €11 and bought it from f2plus1 on eBay 3 months ago, but worldmarket201010 is selling it cheaper.
✧ Final verdict: 4.5/5
Personally I can understand why people rave about Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner. It's a great toner that leaves my skin hydrated and fresh before I apply my night cream. All the dirt on my skin vanishes within seconds after I gently dab it with a cotton pad. My skin tone has also slightly evened out, but these are just subtle changes and the results are not dramatic. While I did encountered an odd scent in this product, after using it for 3 months now I got used to it. It's just a pity that I couldn't test whether it makes any difference to the elasticity of my pores, but this was not my priority in the first place so I can live with it.
For the people with sensitive skin out there, I just want to warn you all that Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner might sting severely (because of the alcohol) and you might bump into red patches on your skin at night. However fear not, these circumstances do not often arise and if they do, they leave their trace within a day.
PROS
* Lightweight product
* Maintains skin pH
* Leaves the skin hydrated / Moisturizes
* Leaves a fresh, clean feeling behind
* Performs an excellent job on removing any residual impurities
* Subtle changes on skin tone
CONS
* Might sting on sensitive skin
* Might leave red patches behind at night
* Odd scent incorporated in this product
Recommend? Yes/No?
Yes yes yes! The number one reason is because I'm in love with the after feeling it produces when I use it. It makes my skin feels fresh and clean, like all of the dirt has been cleansed! Halleluyahhh
